How Design Agencies Develop Company Branding

In recent times, branding is considered to be one of the most important aspects of any marketing campaign. Branding is nothing new and archaeologists have identified attempts to brand products dating back as far as 5,000 years to Mesopotamian times when stoppers were made with identification seals, creating the first branded goods. In the current age, our attempts to produce brand designs have developed a long way and design agencies exist to not simply design symbols for placement on products so a consumer may easily identify a manufacturer, but also to create entirely unique ways of advertising, promoting and reassuring target audiences that a particular product, service, or piece of information comes a from a genuine and verifiable source.

If you are involved in marketing, there is a high likelihood that the brand you are working with has already been established. Despite this, you will probably still need to work with a design and marketing agency to develop that brand and to help you produce the materials needed to increase awareness and to promote the brand even further.

Graphic design is all about image, colour and appearance and the resulting work can be seen everywhere, starting with a simple font and ranging to logos and colour schemes.

Print is a more traditional medium; the production of leaflets and fliers, menus and other similar offline materials will all fall under this.

Many people ask what they should look for in a design agency. There are many different things you should consider, but you should start by requesting examples of past clients and projects. Often testimonials and case studies will be available on their website and you should study these closely.

Location can be important. The internet brings people in different corners of the globe together, however choosing a local agency has many advantages. A good design agency will cater for all of these mediums and the work they produce will translate well from one medium to another. It is better to work with organisations capable of producing work suited to all mediums, who have experience in each of these areas and who have the ability to test how your artwork will look when tried in different formats.
